Our Future Veterinary Academy is for 10th-12th graders who are aspiring veterinarians and want to delve deeper into the field of veterinary science. Topics such as examinations, diagnostics, and dental exams, will be held as stand-alone sessions throughout the year. Each session will include education, observation, and hands-on experience.

Sessions:

Preventive Care Clinic: Vaccinations and Fear Free Practices--Participants will gain real-world veterinary experience through an immersive introduction to preventive animal healthcare. This program covers common companion-animal vaccinations and includes shadowing opportunities at HSHV’s low-cost vaccination clinic. Participants will receive hands-on experience performing and interpreting heartworm and FELV/FIV SNAP tests, building practical diagnostic skills. Additionally, participants will learn the essential skills of how to interpret animal body language and see firsthand how implementing Fear Free techniques can reduce fear, anxiety, and stress for animals and increase safety measures for all during veterinary visits.

Offered twice per year (March & October)

$75/participant
